NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP, bloodstock & sport horse SALES

At Valley Fields Stud we strive to get the best out of every horse without compromising the needs and wellbeing of the horses.  Our natural horsemanship methods of care and handling, combined with well proven traditional fitness training, are the keys to success!

Holistic Horsemanship

Specialist Treatment & Diets

Together with providing as natural a lifestyle as possible and using natural remedies and holistic care where possible, Blood Tests, Vaccinations, Scoping and Worming are implemented regularly to keep on top of any potential problems.  Many years of horse keeping has given our trainers an aptitude for assessing wellbeing.   We use vets who are solely equine vets with many years experience – we do not believe a vet who treats a hamster one minute and a horse the next can really have such a deep knowledge of the species!   In addition to veterinary treatments, homeopathic and herbal remedies are used plus complementary treatments such as acupuncture, acupressure and reiki healing.

We Encourage Natural Behaviour

Horses at Valley Fields are encouraged to display their natural behaviour, interacting with other equines, picking at grass and herbage and with freedom to move unrestricted.   Even ‘failed’ horses with behavioural or physical problems have had their careers turned around as their mental attitudes have totally changed when their natural needs are catered for.

….. and, from the Owner’s point of view, having invested in such an asset,  it means that you are giving the horse the best possible chance of a long, successful career.

Many horses find the traditional methods of being confined in a stable too stressful and this has definite negative impact on their performance.  Horses are naturally herd animals able to graze ad-lib and at Valley Fields we ensure that our horses are turned out for as long as possible – the full 24 hrs if weather permits.  Benefits include better digestion of nutrients (including those gained from the grass and herbs of course), a better attitude to work and being handled and strength derived from the low impact movement of walking almost constantly which is so important for all round fitness.
